The Fertility of Ash is a collaborative work created by dancer/choreographer Traver Woodard, violinist Emily Boone, cellist George Teague, and composer Sean Ellis Hussey. It premiered April 7th, 2017 at the Chicago Electro-Acoustic Music Festival. The work is intended to dissolve boundaries between dance and music in order to access what can be universally communicated through space, time, and sound. In turn, perceptions of borders, boundaries, and proximity are blurred. The resulting creation gives physical form(s) to many enduring questions that are being asked in the modern world, namely how the burning of social fabric can create fertility that breathes new life into our world.
