"...for the sake of a narrative closure"
"... for the sake of a narrative closure" is currently a one-act opera, in which the audience is privy to the inner monologues of six women who are, themselves, watching an opera. The opera they are consuming is being protested for the way it portrays minorities and women. In collaboration with Thompson Street Opera Company and Quince Ensemble, I am extending the work into an evening length, three-act opera. This production will chronicle the process of producing an opera from audition to opening night. In this way it will shed light on aspects of the opera institution often taken for granted or ignored-notably the unidimensional portrayals of women and the sexual violence they endure.
